Notice Regarding Freeze Prevention

1. Suction Machines, Suction Trucks
1-1. Cautions Regarding Pump (Blower / Spiral Pump) Freezing
(Excluding NM, NS, and NSR vehicles)
1) Freeze Prevention Measures
1. After completing the day's work, be sure to drain water from each catcher and the pump, then set the pump drain valve to 'Open' and run the pump dry for 5 to 10 minutes. (Engine speed: approx. 1000 rpm)
2. If it still freezes even after dry running, allow the pump to draw an appropriate amount of antifreeze through the impeller oil filler port after dry running. (Dilute the antifreeze 2 to 4 times as appropriate depending on the air temperature.)
3. If water freezes while traveling in extremely cold areas, use antifreeze in the 3rd and 4th catchers.
2) If Frozen
Completely melt the ice using 'steam' or 'hot water' before operating the pump. (Please also beware of freezing in the cooling water line.)
1-2. Cautions Regarding Valve Cracking Due to Freezing
After draining water, set the valve opening angle to approximately '45°'. (Leaving the valve fully open or fully closed can also cause valve cracking.)
1-3. For Models Equipped with a Water Pump
Thoroughly drain water from the drain cock (drain valve) at the bottom of the water pump.
After draining water, run the pump dry to completely remove the water inside the water pump, then stop the water pump.
1-4. For Models Equipped with a Plunger Pump
1. Thoroughly drain water from each drain valve.
2. To prevent the cleaning hose from freezing, either disconnect the hose after completing work or run antifreeze through the inside of the hose.
2. Cleaning Trucks
2-1. Cautions Regarding Plunger Pump Freezing
1) After completing the day's work, be sure to open each drain valve and drain water from the water tank, plunger pump, and piping. Also, if equipment such as a compressor is available, supply air through the plunger pump head coupler to drain water from the hose. (Please refer to the instruction manual for details.)
2) Drain water from the plunger pump head. (Refer to the pump models below)
2-2. Cautions Regarding Valve Cracking Due to Freezing
After draining water, set the opening angle of the drain valve and plunger pump valve to approximately '45°'. (Leaving valves fully open or fully closed can also cause valve cracking.)
Handling Precautions
1. As a general rule, do not run the plunger pump dry. Doing so may cause pump failure.
2. Run the pump dry only when draining residual water inside the pump head. Perform dry running with the engine at idle speed and the discharge pressure set to zero pressure. However, never run it dry for 5 seconds or longer.
